Here are some questions we get asked frequently. This is not designed to be extensive. Feel free to get in touch with us for further information.
.

When do your courses start ?
Our course dates are tailored to suit you. We operate with a one student to one instructor ratio. Therefore choose dates that suit you and call to confirm we have an instructor free on the day you wish to start. Thus our holidays are good for groups who will still have an instructor each.

We are open year round and only close for the 25th and 26th of December. While it is milder in Winter we have found the conditions remain stable for student jumping.
.

How long will my course take ?

While there will likely be other students training at the same time as you ( more fun than on your own ) , you will not normally share an instructor. ( Occassionally one instructor will work with two students , but this is a rarity and not a policy given the number of teachers we have - many claim this policy but if you consider the staff level how can they deliver ). Typically you can expect to be finished your course within three full days.
.

I have never skydived before , is this for me ?

Experience has shown usthat 60% of our students have never jumped before arriving to the freefall University. Our AFF course is designed for complete beginners. You can elect having completed the ground school to do a tandem with your AFF instructor for 100 euros ( 60 pounds sterling. ). On this jump you practice the body position required for solo freefall and also have your own altimiter. Once the parachute is open you and your instructor will work together to fly the parachute to a safe landing.
.

How many training (AFF) jumps can I do per day.

Once jumping begins you can expect to do three , max four jumps per day. Adrenaline is quite a tiring chemical and skydiving produces lots of it! Initally you will be physically tired , therefore it is rare that a student will want to do more than three. Sometimes on the second day of jumping , students have requested a fourth jump.
.

I have static line experience , does this count?

Yes, you have already jumped out of a plane so will probably not feel so nervous on your first jump. Some of our clients have had static line or RAPS experience but have elected for the AFF route as RAPS has little advantage other than spreading the cost over a long period of time. If you have completed a 10" delay or above you can also avail of a discount on our courses ( and move straight to level 3).
.

What type of aeroplanes do you have ?

We operate two aircraft full time. Both Pilatus Porters. Generally speaking both Porters fly at the weekend when we have lots of tandems and one during the week. Although if there are sufficent numbers both fly. It is anticipated that a Cessna Caravan will soon be operated.

.

What do level repeat costs means and what is the liklehood of having to do one?

You are learning to skydive Solo, if at some point of the course you have not grasped an essential we will repeat the exercise. 60% of our graduates have not had repeats. We feel this is due to adequate time for pre training. Adequate time for the briefs and pre training is symptomatic of a one student one instructor ratio..your teacher will have time to teach ! 25% of people repeat one level and 15% percent repeat two or more. We have a lot of experience teaching , every effort will be made to allow you an easy passage through the course. Our repeat costs are minimal ( slots and instructor fees ) and all repeats also include video of the jump. Our information pack has some guidance on budgeting for repeats.
.

I am a qualified skydiver / a friend of mine is qualified and would like to come with me..

Of course ! We are an active international dropzone and perhaps they would like to take some coaching in on our continuation courses or just take advantage of a full time dropzone and get lots of jumps in! We fly 365 days a year and the first flight is at 9am.

.

Where are you located ?

We are located 30 minutes south of Madrid. While there is a town of one thousand peple " next door " , we skip it completley as small towns provide little to do if you cant / dont want to jump..

Being in the centre of Spain, wind and rain are less of a consideration..the seaside is nice but not good for skydiving. Windsurfers need wind and we dont so skip the sea breazes and early morning misty fog and cloud.
.

What is your drop zone like ?

Fantastic of course ( would we say any different :) . It boasts great facilities to include a full service restaruant, seperate full time bar also serving snacks , onsite hotel, camping , twenty five metre pool and a host of other amenities which make it one of the best equipped dz´s we have seen before we settled here. Its location ..close to something to do also is one of its assets.

We are not located within or near any airline airway, airplane factory , nor military base. Therefore we have not had to close for unspecified periods of time due to restrictions for parachutists or air traffic in general . ( In spain this is becoming more important with some centres sending us their students as they themselves have been closed. )
.

Do all your instructors speak English ?

Yes, in fact all of our permanent staff are english and started their skydiving in England. We also have a number of Swiss Instructors on staff who speak perfect English. Take a look at their jump numbers to gauge what you think it will be like learning to skydive with them.
.

What are ' consolidation jumps ' ?

Consol jumps are the solo jumps that you do directly after your course. It is generally the case that people aim to do ten of these , and typically speaking a week is a sufficent time to complete the course and ' consols ' . Your instructor will still work with you during this phase of your training , helping to check equipment, offering you advice and generally giving you things to do , to help you leverage your time in freefall to your advantage skills wise. As per our price list consol jumps cost 39 euros each. This is inclusive of equipment hire, place on the aircraft and packing.
.

When is the weather best for Skydiving in Central Spain.

Central Spain offers good climatic conditions for skydiving. While we do have occasional periods of weather which are not suitable , these are rare and short lived. Historical data and our own experience suggest that March to November provide the best weather. The days are also long , so the opportunities to jump are excellent. We do not suffer from extreme heat in this part of Spain, remember hear leads to turbulence and thermal wind which can leave you on the ground.
.

Why should I choose the Freefall University?

A fairly difficult question to answer without blowing your own trumpet. What we can say is that we do our best every day and we enjoy what we do. Think about the experience that exists within our school in all disciplines , this contributes to your comfort and safety on the course. If you are hoping to share the experience with new friends who too have come on the course think about our ability to still maintain a 1:1 ratio and get you through with no fuss or waiting your turn. Consider our reputation , which we have worked hard over the years for an continually strive to improve.

The Freefall University is a place where our staff and students achieve their ambitions together, the Symbiosis is fantastic and the adventure extreme.

In terms of quality we continue to leave no stone unturned and strive for excellence in every aspect. Skydiving is unique , but a good holistic business approach means that we are in a position to cater for your needs in safety, comfort and style.

Every one of us , from admin , client care and course the teachers are active fun jumpers , you will train with people who love what they are doing.
.

Do you have any direct relationship with UK dropzones ?

Yes. While our graduates have jumped hassle free on every UK dropzone at this point we do have a number of partner dropzones across the UK where you can continue your course without question ( in the unlikely event you didnt finish in Spain ) , do your consol. jumps or just fun jump while you build your expereince. Really this means we can put you in touch with " "associates" on these dropzones who will both expect you and importantly wont question the standard of your training as you have trained abroad. This is important , but is a point that you may find " hyped " by many schools.
